Schema markup generator
Pick a type, fill in a short form and copy the JSON LD for your page. I check every URL, date and code as you type, and anything you leave blank stays out of the output. It all runs in your browser.
New to structured data? Read my plain explanation of schema markup, then test a live page with the structured data validator.
3. Copy your schema markup
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "Organization"
}
</script>2 things to fix before you publish this:
- Name: Name is required.
- Website URL: Website URL is required.
Everything here runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere. Paste the markup into the page it describes, publish it, then test the live page with my structured data validator.
Coverage
What it builds and checks
Eleven types
Organization, LocalBusiness, Person, WebSite, Article, Product, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Service, SoftwareApplication and Event, each with the properties that describe it best.
Full URLs only
Every URL has to start with https:// or http://. A relative path like /about means nothing to a crawler reading the markup on its own, so I flag it.
ISO dates
Dates use the ISO 8601 format and have to be real calendar days. An article modified before it was published, or an event that ends before it starts, gets flagged.
Codes and identifiers
Currency, country and language codes, opening hours in schema.org format, coordinates in range, and GTIN barcodes with their check digit.
Nothing empty
Fields you leave blank are left out, at every level. No empty strings, no empty address blocks, no Offer without a price.
Safe to paste
Every angle bracket in your text is escaped, so a value that contains a closing script tag cannot break out of the script element. The escape decodes back to your exact text.
Method
How it works
- 1
Pick a type
Choose the schema type that matches what the page is about. Each type keeps its own form, so you can switch and come back.
- 2
Fill the form
Required fields are marked. Problems show under each field once you leave it, and the full list sits next to the output.
- 3
Copy or download
Keep the script tag wrapper on to paste into HTML, or switch it off for a CMS field that wants plain JSON.
- 4
Publish and test
Paste the markup into the page it describes, publish it, then run the live URL through my structured data validator.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Which schema type should I pick?
The one that matches what the page is about. Your home page usually gets Organization (or LocalBusiness if people visit you) plus WebSite. A blog post gets Article, a product page gets Product, a service page gets Service. Breadcrumbs fit almost any page below the home page. One page can carry several blocks.
Where do I put the markup?
In the HTML of the page it describes, inside a script tag with the type application/ld+json. The head is the usual spot, but the body works too. Most site builders and CMS platforms have a field or plugin for custom code in the head. If yours wants raw JSON, switch off the script tag wrapper before you copy.
Does Google still show FAQ rich results?
No. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results in Search on May 7, 2026 and removed the documentation for them in June 2026. FAQPage is still valid schema.org markup and still describes the questions and answers on the page in a form any machine reader can parse, which is why I kept it in the generator.
Will schema markup get my page quoted in AI answers?
Markup on its own does not make that happen. It states the facts on the page in a form machines read without guessing: who wrote it, when, what it costs, where you are. Search engines and answer engines read it next to your text, so it has to match what visitors see.
Can I add ratings and reviews?
Only ratings that real reviews on the same page show. Google’s structured data guidelines say not to mark up content that readers cannot see, and markup that misrepresents a page can count against it. If you have no reviews yet, leave the rating fields empty and they stay out of the output.
Does this tool send what I type anywhere?
No. The form and the output both live in this page in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to my server or stored, and the download is built in the browser too.
How do I check the markup once it is live?
Publish the page, then run its URL through my free structured data validator. It reads the markup the way a crawler sees it and lists every problem with the fix.
