The short answer
An AI crawl pathway is the set of links, sitemaps and rendering conditions that let AI and search crawlers discover your pages, read their content and return when they change. If the path is broken, the page cannot be retrieved.

Why AI Crawl Pathway matters
Everything else in AEO depends on this. A page behind a blocked bot, a login or a script that never runs is invisible however good it is.
How to measure or use it
Check robots rules for each bot, sitemap coverage, internal links to key pages, server response codes and whether the content is present in the raw HTML.
How I handle it
I fetch each key page the way a bot would and read the raw HTML before I touch anything else.

AI Crawl Pathway questions
Do AI bots run JavaScript?
Many do not, or not reliably. Content that only appears after scripts run may never be seen, so I check the raw HTML.
Is there a quick way to check?
Yes. My free AI crawler check shows which AI bots your robots rules allow.
